About the role
Northstar is looking for a strong mathematics tutor who can provide personalized, one-to-one online instruction to students.
This role is about more than helping students finish homework. The tutor should be able to identify where a student's understanding breaks down, explain mathematics clearly, work through difficult concepts, and help students become more confident and independent problem solvers.
Responsibilities

- Work through difficult concepts step by step
- Help students become confident, independent problem solvers
- Communicate professionally with Northstar and families
Subjects & levels
You do not need to teach every subject listed. Please clearly identify the subjects and levels you're comfortable teaching.
We're looking for someone who
- Has strong mathematics knowledge
- Can explain concepts in multiple ways
- Is patient and comfortable working one-to-one with students
- Can adapt instruction to the individual student
- Communicates professionally
- Is comfortable tutoring online through Zoom
- Believes tutoring should help students understand mathematics rather than simply give them answers
- Can work independently and reliably
